The Future of STEM Education

In this YouTube video from a TEDx session in Baltimore, Roni Ellington passionately describes how she went from being in a “low track” grade 7 class to having a Ph.D. in mathematics education. She also talks about her research into what factors influence marginalized students to persist and succeed. My favourite part is where she talks about the need for teachers to see themselves less as content deliverers and more as valuable agents who can change the lives of their students.
