Changing Attitudes Toward STEM Education

Obama with STEM students

On this blog I have posted links to several articles about how concerned people in Canada, Britain, and the United States are about downward trends in the scientific and mathematical competence of the youth in their respective countries. This US News article talks about the anxiety people in countries like China feel about their lack of innovation. While we in the West are busy anguishing over disappointing test results, the countries that make the stuff we buy are busy worrying about their lack of patents and Nobel Laureates. Unlike most articles on the subject of STEM education, this one pays attention to what we are doing well and asks how we can improve on that.
